The St. Mary's Cardinals traveled to Creighton on Friday, Sept. 19, and came away with a 66-28 win over the Bull Dogs. 

The Cardinals utilized their receivers in this game, racking up 244 yards and six touchdowns on the night.

Gage Hedstrom ran in three touchdowns to wrap up scoring on the night.

The Cardinals ran 44 total plays for 19 first downs and had six penalties for 65 yards. The bulldogs had 66 total plays and 19 first downs and had five penalties for 20 yards.

The game started with Ethan Kuhl running a 36-yard touchdown, followed by Karter Gragert running in the conversion.

The Cards' first score was on a 64-yard touchdown by Gage Hedstrom, with Lane Bybee catching the conversion pass. The Bulldogs got one more score in the first when Kuhl hit Robinson Ladeaux on a 20-yard touchdown pass with Kul taking in the conversion and the Bulldogs leading the Cards 16 -8 at the end of the first quarter.

Gragert ran in the first score of the second quarter when Creighton drove into the Cardinal territory, and Gragert ran in a three-yard touchdown. Hedstrom hit Ben Barlow on a 60-yard touchdown pass and then again on the conversion. Creighton's Kuhl ran in a three-yard touchdown to end scoring for the Bulldogs. The Cardinals got one more score before the half when they drove down to the goal line, and Hedstrom took in the score for the Cards, and Hedstrom hit Barlow for the conversion.

The Cards traded touchdowns in the first half but not in the second, as the Cardinal defense held Creighton to zero points, and the Cardinal air game put up 38 points, putting the proverbial nail in the coffin for the Bulldogs. Hedstrom ran in an 11-yard touchdown, but then connected to Barlow three times for touchdowns, and the final touchdown was a 14-yard throw to James Eby. The final score of the game was a 17-yard touchdown pass from Hedstrom to Bybee.

Hedstrom threw the ball 25 times for 15 completions and six touchdowns.

Hedstrom led in the rushing column with 13 carries for 151 yards and three touchdowns; Connor Banks had two carries for four yards; and Keigan Couch had one carry for two yards.

Barlow led the receivers with nine catches for 149 yards and four touchdowns; Bybee had three catches for 52 yards and one touchdown; Eby had two Catches for 36 yards and one touchdown; and Couch had one catch for seven yards.

Leading the defense was Bybee and Drake Berg with 14 tackles each, Eli Banks had 12 tackles, Dalton Herley had 11 tackles, Hedstrom had nine tackles, Couch had eight tackles, Ben Pongratz had seven tackles, Eby four tackles, Ruger Kraft had three tackles, Barlow, Connor Banks and Myles Hamilton each had two tackles and Logan Brabec and John Mlnarik each had one tackle.
