The St. Mary's Lady Cardinals have been on a roll, recently taking down their past five opponents. Last week, they visited Niobrara/Verdigre for a triangular against the host, as well as Santee. Kicking off the day was the SMH Cardinals and the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars. To nobody's surprise, the Cards took the advantage from the start and ran with it. They put the Cougars down quickly, 2-0, with scores of 25-12 and 25-13. Gracie Williamson led with seven kills, three ace serves, two blocks and two digs; Anna Otte had four kills; Tatum Ickes had two kills and seven digs; Delaney Drueke had one kill, six ace serves and three set assists; Samantha Asche had one kill, two ace serves, two blocks and four digs; Adyson Peterson had two ace serves, five digs and nine set assists; and Bethany Leisy had three digs. Immediately following, the Santee Warriors prepared to take the stage. The beginning was the end for them, as the Cards put up 25 points and held the Warriors to just seven. The Cards were vicious this match, hardly ever allowing their opponent the chance to score. By the end, the scoreboard read 2-0, 25-7, and 25-11. Ickes was the MVP with 10 kills, seven ace serves, two digs and one set assist; G. Williamson had four kills, two ace serves, one block and two digs; Otte had three kills; Peterson had two kills, seven ace serves, two digs and 17 set assists; Drueke had two kills, one ace serve, one block, one dig and one set assist; Asche had one kill and one block; Leisy had one kill, seven digs and one set assist; and Cherish Williamson had one dig. The Cardinals are on a nice seven-game streak for a few weeks. They put it on the line next Tuesday when they visit North Central.
