The Stuart Bronco football team suffered its first loss of the season in the hands of the Garden County Eagles. This game wasn't originally scheduled on the schedule but due to a team forfeiting their season, the two teams decided to play each other. Going into the game, the Broncos weren't rated #1 while the Eagles were rated #2. Looking at the matchup on paper looked to be a good one and that's exactly what it was. The Eagles came out firing on their first drive and scored a touchdown. The Broncos could not respond going three and out on their first drive. The Broncos settled in and caused a couple turnovers. The Broncos scored right before the half on a Kayde Ramm to Tommy Paxton 30-yard touchdown to make the score 16-8. Right out of the half, the Broncos drove down the field and scored on an Owe Littau three-yard run to cut the score to 16-14. The Eagles defense had the Broncos number in the second half and held them scoreless. The final score was 28-14 in favor of the Eagles. On offense, Drew Schmaderer led the rushing attack with 60 yards rushing on eight carries. Atwood Albrecht had four catches for 48 yards and Tommy Paxton had three catches for 47 yards. Schmaderer added two catches for 18 yards and Cameron Kaup had two catches for eight yards. Owen Littau had nine carries for 18 yards and two catches for 14 yards. Kayde Ramm was 12/23 for 132 yards and one touchdown. On the defensive side, Littau led the team in tackles with 14. Nigel Addison and Albrecht on 13 each. Paxton had eight tackles and Schmaderer had seven tackles. Cameron Kaup had five tackles with a fumble recovery and Brook Wallinger chipped in with two tackles. The Broncos will travel to Santee on Friday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
