Amelia — Thomas "Dale" Bilstein, 79, of Amelia, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2024 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill. Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 30, 2024 at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. Visitation was continued Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at the Presbyterian Church in Atkinson. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at the church in Atkinson. Pastor Wayne Owens officiated. Pallbearers were Dale's grandsons Jesse Bilstein, Alex Farmer, Tyler Farmer, Zac Bilstein and Cameron Bilstein. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson. Memorials may be made to the Chambers Fire and Rescue Department in Chamber in Dale's name. Thomas Dale was born in Burwell on July 8, 1945, to Thomas Kelly and Doris (Gumb) Bilstein. He married Janice Clements on June 27, 1965, in Taylor. Dale and Janice lived at Rose working on the Buell and Dilsaver Ranches until 1980. In September of 1980 they moved southeast of Swan Lake. Dale worked helping his dad and worked at the Pitzer Ranch and various other ranches. Dale enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed all of the grandkids and also the cats, kittens and dogs he had throughout the years. He loved the cattle and horses, fixing fence and putting up hay. Dale is survived by his wife Jan of Amelia; three sons Ron (Kim) of Battle Creek, Ryan (Theresa) of Meadow Grove and Justin (Elizabeth) of Hoskins; one daughter Reita (Michael) Farmer of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren;eight great-grandchildren; and four sisters Virginia Bauman of Ord, Marie Bade of Burr, Peggy (Roger) Derickson of Grand Island and Kim (Joel) Bingen of Rapid City, SD. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Ronda Kay, one sister Nancy and his parents and grandparents.
