Mary Karen Bohaty

NORFOLK – Mary Karen Bohaty, 77, died Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 9th, 2024 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, NE. 

Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Ewing, NE. 

Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church, Friday. 

Stonacek Funeral Chapel of Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Karen Bohaty was born on Sept. 13, 1946 to Raymond and Frances (Spittler) Funk in Omaha, NE. Mary was one of 8 brothers and sisters. Mary grew up in Ewing Nebraska. She attended and graduated from Ewing High School. After high school Mary worked for the phone company in Omaha, NE. She would later move to back to Ewing where she would stay for a majority of her life. While in Ewing Mary attended church at St. Peters Catholic Church. Mary worked as a house wife, for the bank in Ewing, and she also worked for the Tiger Alley youth center in Ewing. Mary loved to collect owls, and work on puzzles and crossword puzzles. In the early 2000's Mary moved to Norfolk, NE to be closer to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Shane (Rebecca) Bohaty, daughter Shannon Bohaty, grandchildren, Ashley Bohaty, Seth (Hailey) Bohaty, Page Bohaty, Noah Bohaty, Lauren McDonald, and Trenton Shannon. Great grandchildren Khloe Bohaty, Paisley McDonald, Paxton McDonald, Presley McDonald, Parklyn McDonald, and Avery Shannon. Brothers, Ron (Gloria) Funk of Beaumont, TX, and Dan Funk of Lincoln, NE. Sisters, Shirley Salas of Las Cruces, NM, Lora Lee Woodard of Elgin, NE, Melanie Funk of Scottsdale, AZ, Beverly Pundsack of Seguin, TX, and Nancy (Duane) Arp of Gretna, NE.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Frances Funk, infant son Sean, and sister Sharon Lee.
