Last week was another smashing success from the Lady Cardinals as they improved their record by three. Tuesday, Sept. 24, they faced North Central and Boyd County in a Triangular in Spencer.

The Cardinals and Knights were fairly evenly matched, with both teams scoring well. The Cards held the advantage the whole way through, however, never letting the Knights get past them. The Cardinals won over North Central in two sets of 25-18.

Pyper Ickes led the way to victory with six kills, three ace serves, 11 digs and one set assist; Samantha Asche also six kills plus one block; Gracie Williamson had five kills, one block, seven digs and one set assist; Annabelle Barlow four kills, three ace serves, four digs and two set assists; Adyson Peterson two kills, two ace serves, eight digs and 14 set assists; and Anna Otte one kill, seven digs and one set assist.

Later in the day the Cardinals would take down the Spartans on their own home soil.

It was a pretty devastating first set for the Spartans, falling behind 25-15 early on. Set two eliminated any chance the Spartans may have had when the Cardinals held them down to just 10 points by the end.

Williamson was the MVP of the game with 12 kills, four ace serves, two blocks, 11 digs and one set assist; Otte had five kills, two set assists, one block, three digs and one set assist; Ickes two kills, one ace serve and 14 digs; Barlow two kills and four digs; Peterson had one ace serve, two blocks, four digs and 19 set assists; and Thompson one ace serve and one dig.

The girls took a short breather, but Thursday, Sept. 26 brought another competitor in the Randolph Cardinals.

From the start, the two teams were neck and neck, St. Mary's having the edge in the first set. The next was a different story, with Randolph fumbling their way to a 25-5 beating from their opponent. The finale brought back more of the energy from the beginning, but the St. Mary's Cards still had the clear advantage, taking the game 3-0.

On Monday, Sept. 30 The Cards traveled to Stuart to take on Neligh/Oakdale and Stuart. The Lady Cards defeated N/O 25-12 and 25-18. The Cards fell to Stuart 25-17 and 25-17.

The Cards are currently 11-3 on the season.
