The O'Neill Irish Travel 12U baseball team brought home the championship title this weekend at the Wayne Tournament, finishing with an impressive 3-1 record. The team started strong on Saturday with a decisive 13-2 win over the West Point Aardvarks. In their second game, they battled hard but fell just short in an extra-innings heartbreaker against the Pender travel team, losing 6-5. On Sunday, the Irish came out swinging. They defeated the Crofton travel team 10-2 in the semifinals, then capped off their tournament run with a dominant 13-2 victory over Wisner in the championship game. O'Neill's pitching staff was lights out throughout the weekend. Dawson Kluver, Tyce Parks, Crue Ickes, and Kale Kelly all delivered strong performances on the mound, racking up numerous strikeouts. Behind the plate, Charlie Kellum was a standout force, anchoring the defense and making key plays. The entire Irish squad contributed with solid defensive efforts led by Wyatt Drueke and Brooks Kelly in the infield and Easton Kasselder and Kolt Sibbel in the outfield. Bats were also popping with many singles, doubles and triples by multiple players. The O'Neill 12U Irish have had an impressive season so far, advancing to the championship game in every tournament they've entered. They also brought home the gold at the Capital City Tournament in Pierre, South Dakota, and earned runner-up finishes at both the Oakland-Craig Tournament and the Wakefield Wooden Bat Tournament.
