It's been a little while, but the St. Mary's Cardinals were finally back shooting hoops again last Friday when they visited Ainsworth to face the Bulldogs. The girls took the court at 6 p.m. They got off to a rocky start, falling behind two points. The Cardinals soon got back into the swing of things and demolished the second quarter 26-6 to more than even out the match. The Cards winded down but still continued to put up numbers to take down Ainsworth and wrap up the game 63-37. Gracie Williamson crushed the competition with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two steals; Adyson Peterson and Pyper Ickes both had 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals; Annabelle Barlow had 11 points, four rebounds and two steals; Emerson Mlnarik also 11 points and four rebounds; Casey Clements two rebounds; Loretta Scofield and Lily Bauer both one rebound. SMH 12 26 12 13 63 AHS 14 6 10 7 37 Shortly after, the boys took center stage and downed Ainsworth 75-40. The Cards took an early 18-12 win to give the Bulldogs a warning. By the end of half-time, the scoreboard read 25-12 in the Card's favor. Quarter three added insult to injury when the Cards pulled ahead by 17 points. In the finale, the Cardinals fumbled, and the Bulldogs snuck in a late 13-12 quarter victory over their visitor. The Cards still cleared the court in the end. Gage Hedstrom scored high with 19 points, five rebounds and two steals; Logan Brabec was close behind with 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals; Ben Barlow had 15 points, six rebounds and one steal; James Eby 13 points, one rebound and one steal; Drake Berg six points, five rebounds and two steals; Eli Banks two points and 11 rebounds; Max Berg two points, six rebounds and one steal; Risken Dawson two rebounds and two steals; Xzavier Parks one rebound and one steal and John Mlnarik one rebound to end the night.
