Joan Martin, 90, of O'Neill, died Monday, June 24, 2024 at her home in O'Neill.

Visitation will was held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the O'Neill Methodist Church in O'Neill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the church in O'Neill. Pastor Robert Wynn will officiate.

Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

Joan was born on May 17, 1934 to Levi and Vida Clemens in Amelia. Her older siblings always told how she was born at home during a dust storm while they kept blankets at the windows to keep out the dust. Her dad always said “the only thing they got out of the Dirty 30's was Joan.”

She graduated from Chambers High School and attended college in Norfolk. 

After college she moved to O'Neill and worked for social services until she met Harold Humrich. They were married in 1955 and raised two daughters Becky and Jan.  

Harold passed away in 1979 and she married Don Martin in 1984. They were married until 2002 when Don passed away.

Joan is survived by her two daughters Becky (Ed) Peter and Jan (Jim) Johnson both of O'Neill; eight grandchildren Angie (Dustin) Havranek of Omaha, Chisty (Ben) Berggren of Stromsburg, Tim (Emily) Peter of O'Neill, Jeremy (Marie) Peter of Plainview, Laura (Dustin) Beerman of Kearney, Lisa Peter of Omaha, Sara (Austin) Twibell of Orchard and Megan Peter of Kearney; 17 great-grandchildren; Don's two children Peggy (Gary) Wettlaufer of O'Neill and Dick (Carol) Martin of Lincoln and their families; one sister-in-law RuthAnn Clemens of O'Neill; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Harlod Hamrich in 1979; second husband Don Martin in 2002; and six siblings Faye (Julius) Belew, Bud (Stacia) Clemens, Doc (Mildred) Clemens, Ethel (Henry) Traver, Ruth (Leonard) Pribil and Cliff Clemens.
