O'Neill Public Schools Shows Interest In Armory Building

O'NEILL ARMORY - The O'Neill Public School is voicing it's interest in acquiring the property which was put up for auction by the State of Nebraska.

In an exciting development for the local community, the O'Neill Public School District has expressed an interest in acquiring the O'Neill Readiness Center (O'Neill Armory). This opportunity would provide much-needed space for the expansion of educational programs and facilities. 

The Armory was previously a vacant property that had been unused for several years. The O'Neill Public School Board of Education sees this as an opportunity to address the growing needs of the school, which has seen an increasing demand for Early Childhood Education.

Mr. Mike Rotherham, Superintendent of the O'Neill Public School District, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, "This is a great opportunity for our school district and our community. This building not only signifies our commitment to providing the best possible education for our students but also demonstrates our dedication to the betterment of the entire community."

Currently the school district rents two properties for our Sixpence Infant and Toddler sites. Both locations are a fair distance from any of our other locations, posing a safety and supervision concern. In addition, our Elementary school is overcrowded. With the acquisition of the Armory building, we would have the ability to house both Sixpence sites, as well as the preschool, under one roof, turning the building into an Early Childhood Learning Center.

In addition to the Early Childhood Learning Center, we would relocate our Administrative Office staff to this location making it closer to our existing facilities. At this time, we have an interested party in our current administrative office location.

Current needs, as well as preparing for any needs the district may encounter, make the acquisition of the Armory building an unbelievable opportunity for the O'Neill Public Schools and the community. 

The possibilities of the building not only signify growth for the school district, but also underscores the importance of investing in education for the benefit of future generations. This exciting development promises to enhance the educational opportunities available to local students and further solidifies the school district's commitment to excellence.
