On Thursday April 4, the O'Neill Lady Eagles Junior High Track team traveled to Atkinson to participate in the West Holt Invitational at the Roger Brink Track and Field complex. The lady Eagles competed against several area teams. While no team points were kept, the Eagles came away with many medals.

Two stand out performances came from 8th graders Mady Heiss and Mariah Kallhoff. Heiss broke the O'Neill Junior High Long Jump record with a jump of 16'6 and secured gold in this event. This record was previously held by OHS alumni Meg Schulns with a jump of 15'9.5. Heiss also took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.59 and she took first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.07. Heiss was also part of the 4x100M relay team that took 1st place. Heiss, Taylee Wade, Tatum Ickes and Blakely Sudbeck ran the relay in 55.90 seconds to claim gold. Other top performances on the track include Mariah Kallhoff in the shot put and discus. Kallhoff took gold in both events with a throw of 33'0 in shotput and 83'6 in discus. Kallhoff's shot put throw entered her in the record book in second place overall with the current first place junior high record being 33'1.25.

Outside of these impressive finishes the Eagles also had many other top place medalists including Raegan Lindsay taking 1st in pole vault, Reese Boetcher finishing 3rd in the 400 meter dash, Blakely Sudbeck taking 2nd in the 100 meter dash, Kiarra Kennedy placing 2nd in the mile, Bailey Salers 3rd in the 100 meter high hurdles, Taylor Young placing 2nd in the shot put and discus, Bristol Scott placing 3rd in the shot put and Tenzlie Sorensen placing 2nd in the long jump.
