The 2022 Niobrara Valley Conference (NVC) Basketball Tourney is underway with games having started Saturday, Jan. 29. First round girls scores were as follows: CWC defeated Santee 46-31; North Central downed Neligh-Oakdale 53-10; Stuart downed Boyd Co. 46-38 and West Holt downed Summerland 41-22. First round boys scores were as follows: West Holt downed Niobrara/Verdigre 60-42; Summerland topped Neligh-Oakdale 47-30; Santee downed CWC 84-51 and North Central downed Boyd County 35-29. The second round of girls action was on Monday Jan. 31. St. Mary's downed CWC 55-32, North Central downed EPPJ 47-40, Niobrara/Verdigre downed Stuart 60-46 and Elkhorn Valley downed West Holt 51-28. Semi-final games are set for Thursday, Feb. 3 in Bassett. The boys games, with pairings to be determined, are slated for 2 & 3:30 p.m. The girls games start with St. Mary's battling North Central at 5 p.m. North Central has already defeated the Cards once this season. In the second semi-final game, NiobraraVerdigre will face Elkhorn Valley at 6:30. Elkhorn Valley has defeated the Cougars once this season in a five point victory. Both games are sure to be great contests. The final round of NVC Basketball action will be on Saturday, Feb. 5 starting at 2 p.m. at West Holt High School with the boys & girls consolation games followed by the championship matches set to start at 5 p.m. (0) COMMENTSWelcome to the discussion.
