The O'Neill Eagle Track and Field team turned in a stellar performance at the Battle Creek Invitational, with the boys' team earning a well-deserved runner-up trophy and the girls placing fourth overall in a highly competitive meet. One of the top highlights came from the girls' 4x800-meter relay team of Taya Dickau, Hannah Hilker, Mia Lindsay, and Ashley Sidak, who powered their way to a 3rd-place finish, showcasing strong teamwork and endurance. On the track, Madelynn Heiss sprinted to a 3rd-place finish in the 100 meters and claimed 2nd in the 200-meter dash, while also earning 2nd in the long jump, capping off a stellar all-around performance. In hurdles, Pryor Mathews was dominant, taking 1st in both the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles, with teammate Ian Yates finishing 6th in the 110 highs. The mid-distance events saw consistent performances from Trevor Alder, who placed 4th in both the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, and Nate Brown, who followed closely with a 5th-place finish in the 800 meters. In the relays, the boys' 4x100 team—featuring Porter Mathews, Pryor Mathews, Maguire Heiss, and Ryan Owen—secured a 4th-place finish. The boys' 4x400 team of Colten Shoemaker, Nate Brown, Brock Latzel, and Paul Fonseca brought home an impressive 2nd place, while the girls' 4x400 team of Ashley Sidak, Hannah Hilker, Taya Dickau, and Mia Lindsay also performed strongly, taking 4th. In the field events, Mariah Kallhoff continued her dominance in the throws, placing 2nd in the shot put and capturing 1st in the discus. Teammate Taylor Young added to the Eagles' points with a 4th-place finish in the shot put. Porter Mathews matched Heiss' performance in the long jump with a 2nd-place finish of his own. Wrapping up the day in the pole vault, Brooklynn Cahoy cleared the competition with a 1st-place finish, and Grady Welke vaulted to 3rd in the boys' event. The O'Neill Eagles displayed depth, determination, and teamwork across all events, leaving Battle Creek with plenty to be proud of and momentum building for the rest of the season. Boys Results 1.
