NVC Basketball Finals Saturday at West Holt

The 2022 Niobrara Valley Conference (NVC) Basketball Tourney is underway with games having started Saturday, Jan. 29.

First round girls scores were as follows: CWC defeated Santee 46-31; North Central downed Neligh-Oakdale 53-10; Stuart downed Boyd Co. 46-38 and West Holt downed Summerland 41-22.

First round boys scores were as follows: West Holt downed Niobrara/Verdigre 60-42; Summerland topped Neligh-Oakdale 47-30; Santee downed CWC 84-51 and North Central downed Boyd County 35-29.

The second round of girls action was on Monday Jan. 31. St. Mary's downed CWC 55-32, North Central downed EPPJ 47-40, Niobrara/Verdigre downed Stuart 60-46 and Elkhorn Valley downed West Holt 51-28.

Semi-final games are set for Thursday, Feb. 3 in Bassett. The boys games, with pairings to be determined, are slated for 2 & 3:30 p.m. The girls games start with St. Mary's battling North Central at 5 p.m. North Central has already defeated the Cards once this season. In the second semi-final game, NiobraraVerdigre will face Elkhorn Valley at 6:30. Elkhorn Valley has defeated the Cougars once this season in a five point victory. Both games are sure to be great contests.

The final round of NVC Basketball action will be on Saturday, Feb. 5 starting at 2 p.m. at West Holt High School with the boys & girls consolation games followed by the championship matches set to start at 5 p.m.
