Patricia "Patty" Jane Matthews, 67, of O'Neill, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at her home in O'Neill.

A celebration of life service will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.

Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Patricia was born on May 28, 1957 to William and Kathryn (Judge) Petsche in O'Neill. She grew up in O'Neill and attended St. Mary's Catholic High School, she loved playing volleyball in high school. Patty graduated with the class of 1976. After high school she attended the University of Nebraska graduating with a special education degree.

After college she met David Matthews and the couple got married in 1981. She worked as a special education teacher in Seward, and then moved out to Alliance before returning to O'Neill in 1987 where she worked as a substitute teacher.  Patty retired in the early 2000's.

Patty loved to read, watch musicals, watch Husker sports and was also known for her tremendous baking.

Patty is survived by her husband David Matthews of O'Neill, her father Bill Petsche of O'Neill, many cousins and her dog Mateo.

She was preceded in death by her mother Kathryn Petsche in 1994 and one brother Chuck Petsche in 1997.
