O'Neill Public Schools is proud to announce some facility upgrades for the new school year. Some of the more noticeable items will be a video board and shot clocks in the Aerie, and a scoreboard, video board and sound system for the football field and track. In addition to enhancing the fan experience at our home events, the boards will provide opportunities for our students to create some of their own digital content. The boards were purchased from Daktronics through Crouch Recreation, the Daktronics vendor for Nebraska. Thanks to the support of several businesses and individuals in our community, the boards were purchased without the use of any taxpayer dollars. Advertising partners for the boards are listed below, Anchor Partners Blush Boutique/Kyle & Megan Heiss Family Farms CVA GPS Bank Mitchell Equipment O'Neill Athletic Booster Club Pinnacle Bank Shad's Electric Torpin's Rodeo Market Founding Partners Akrs Avera Farm Bureau - Barb Hesse Grosch Irrigation KBRX Kracl Irrigation Krotter's Home & Auto Centers The Tri-County Bank Premier Partners Anson Insurance DR Seed & Ag LLC - Dan Rentschler Farm Bureau - Jim Hedstrom Farmers Pride Finish Line Chiropractic Heartland Beverage Hoegemeyer Hybrids J & L Collision Center Inc. O'Neill Family Pharmacy Reiser Insurance Super Foods Thrivent Financial - Aaron Losing Wakefield Insurance The boards were installed the week of August 19th by Love Signs out of Norfolk. Shad's Electric has done some work in preparation for the installation and then more work after the boards were installed. Daktronics will send a technician the week of August 23rd to finish up all the connections on their end. Once the Daktronics technician has finished, several staff members and students will go through a training on how to use the boards and develop our own digital content. I'm sure there will be a bit of a learning curve, but we are very excited about the opportunity! Fans will also notice an expansion of the wall padding on both baselines in the Aerie. The expansion makes the gym safer for all activities that will take place there, as well as enhancing the look. A big part of the motivation for this expansion was the purchase of a new wrestling mat with 5 competition circles for the Aerie. This mat will allow us to have 8 total mats at our high school invite in December. Perhaps even more importantly, this mat will also be used throughout the season to help us create a second practice area in the new central office building. Our boys and girls wrestling programs will both be able to practice immediately after school and have much more room to drill and wrestle live without fear of injuries due to a lack of space. The cost of the wrestling mat was shared between the O'Neill Athletic Booster Club, Leprechaun Youth Sports and the school district. Later this fall, new record boards for all of our varsity sports will hang on the wall in the hallway south of the Aerie. This upgrade was made possible thanks to a donation from the O'Neill Athletic Booster Club. We are very grateful to the many businesses, individuals and community in general for the support we receive! We look forward to seeing everyone at the events we host throughout the year and as always, GO EAGLES!!! (0) COMMENTSWelcome to the discussion.
