Last Tuesday the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades hosted Boyd County and lost in a close 44-40 match. Quarter one looked good for the Renegades, keeping a steady 4-point pace ahead of the Spartans. The next quarter was a stalemate-both teams put up eight points to the board. Things were looking good for the Renegades, until the Spartans claimed victory in quarter three. Now down one point, the Renegades had only one opportunity to take the game back. The final bout was a close and even set, but the Spartans just overpowered their opponent and took it 16-13 to win the game by only four points. CWC's Michael Jesse scored highest for his team at 14 points, shooting two of four three-pointers for 50 percent and four of five two-pointers for 80 percent. Jesse also had 10 rebounds and one steal; Elijah Heinz had nine points and six rebounds; Beau Butterfield eight points, three rebounds and one steal; William Jesse four points, one rebound and one steal; Hunter Hoerle three points, five rebounds and two steals; Mason Knox two points; and Daniel Kluver two rebounds.
