Patrick Joseph Carr, 76, of O'Neill died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill.

Visitation was held Monday, June 13, 2022 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a parish rosary.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. Fr. Joseph Sund officiated.

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill with military rites provided by The O'Neill American Legion Simonson Post 93.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Patrick was born June 4, 1946 in rural Amelia to Hugh and Margaret (Holcomb) Carr. He attended District 516 through the fifth grade. Upon his parents' retirement, the family moved to O'Neill where Patrick attended St. Mary's Academy through the eighth grade and then St. Mary's High School, graduating in 1965.

Upon graduating, Patrick was hired as produce manager at Torpin's Rodeo Market, where he worked several years. He began working for United Parcel Service (UPS) in 1975 and with 25 years of service, Patrick retired in 2000. 

Patrick married Laurie Scheinost on Sept. 20, 1969 and became unmarried in 1996. To this union three wonderful children were born Monti, Kirk and Kimberly.

Patrick was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Army National Guard of Nebraska from 1965-1971, Dick James Real Estate School of Denver, CO, and Union Steward of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 554.

Patrick loved music – he played drums in several bands over the years. He also enjoyed restoring vehicles. 

His love of music and dancing led him to Ericson where he met Debra Dauer. Several months later, they were married on June 6, 1997 in Spalding.

Patrick is survived by his three children Monti Carr and Kirk (Mindy) Carr, all of Omaha, and Kimberly (Patrick) Morton of Bellevue; eight grandchildren Tyler and Preston Carr, Hudson, Kai and Wren Carr and Jadin, Hailey and Taylor Morton; one brother Darrel Carr of Amelia; one sister Sharon (Larry) Roach of Spalding; one sister-in-law Pauline Carr of Harrisonville, MO; very special friend Ellen (Jo) Carlson of O'Neill; three step-children Mark Smith of Colorado City, CO, Matt (Megan) Smith of Fairplay, SC and Cam Dauer of Weatherford, Texas; four step-grandchildren Alayna Smith, Sidney Smith, Colton Smith and Blakley Dauer; two brothers-in-law Mike Van Winkle of Creighton and Dave (Connie) Van Winkle of Fowler, Texas; one sister-in-law Cathy (Larry) Radant of Valentine; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Margaret Carr, wife Debra Carr, two brothers Gene Carr and Jim Carr, two sisters-in-law Joann and Cecilia, one nephew Darwin Carr, one niece Carla Hagen and his father- and mother-in law Roy and Pat Van Winkle.
