The O'Neill Softball team is now sitting at 5-4 on the season with the Eagles losing to St. Paul, Twin River, Centura and Wayne. The Eagles have posted wins over Arlington, Ponca, LVSS, BCNG and Blue River. O'Neill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Blue River, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. The Eagles blew past Blue River 12-1 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season. Rylee Selby made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in Oct. of 2024. In other batting news, O'Neill got a big performance out of Aubrey Blackburn, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Blackburn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tenzlie Sorenson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. O'Neill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better. The win was the fourth in a row for O'Neill, bringing their record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Blue River, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3. O'Neill will host NEN at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. NEN's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so O'Neill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
