The O'Neill Eagles traveled to Plainview on Tuesday, Feb. 1 to take on the Pirates. The Eagles came away with a four point win, edging out the Pirates 51-47. The Eagles seemed to be evenly matched with the Pirates and the scoring reflected with the Eagles putting up 20 points to the Pirate's 17 in the first half. The second half was a fight for the lead as the Eagles put up 18 to the Pirate's six in the third. Then the Pirates got some fire under them in the fourth and put up 24 points to the Eagle's 13. However the Eagles held on to the four point lead as time expired. Lauren Young led the Eagles with 14 points, eight rebounds and one steal; Zelie Sorensen 13 points, four rebounds and three steals; Kiersten Welke nine points and three rebounds; Olivia Young seven points, four rebounds and one steal; Presley Heiss four points and three rebounds; and Ashley Sidak four points, five rebounds and two steals. OHS 10 10 18 13 51 PHS 8 9 6 24 47 On Friday the Eagles faced the Ord Chants. The Eagles had a heartbreaker of a game. Down 24-12 at the half, the Lady Eagles battled back in the third, scoring 12 to Ord's five, getting the deficit to five to start the fourth quarter. Tied at 40 a piece in the fourth with 20 seconds to go, Ord's Ali Miller shot off a rogue three-point shot to stal the win from the Eagles. Young led the Eagles with 11 points, seven rebounds and one steal; Sorensen nine points and four rebounds; Heiss five points, two rebounds and one steal; Sidak four points, one rebound and one steal; and Welke three points and two rebounds.
