This basketball season has been a good one for the O'Neill Lady Eagles. They entered last week with a 7-5 record and improved it to 9-5 by the end of the week.

The girl's first game was played last Thursday against Ainsworth. The Eagles started the game with a disappointing 11-7 loss, but they soon bounced back with a huge 25-0 second quarter. The third also saw points pour in for the girls. The finale saw a rare zero points from both teams, which meant the Eagles remained at the top.

Hannah Hilker scored a solid 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals; Mariah Kallhoff had 12 points, three rebounds and one steal; Tenzlie Sorensen eight points and two rebounds; Taylor Young seven points, two rebounds and two steals; Olivia Young seven points and two rebounds; Bergyn Classen four points, nine rebounds and one steal; Mady Heiss four points, three rebounds and two steals; Ashley Sidak four points, two rebounds and one steal; Rylee Selby two rebounds and two steals and Serena Chavez two rebounds and one steal.

After a day's rest, the Eagles visited Aurora Saturday and took down the Huskies 60-38.

It seems the Eagles have made a habit of falling short in the beginning and quickly coming back with big numbers.

The game started with a 13-12 Husky victory, which may have given them false hope. In quarters two and three, the Eagles dropped 42 points on the scoreboard while holding their opponent to just 14. Toward the end, the girls fumbled an 11-6 fourth quarter, but they already had the game in the bag.

Hilker was again MVP with 19 points, two rebounds and three steals; O. Young had 10 points, four rebounds and one steal; Heiss 10 points, two rebounds and two steals; Sidak nine points and three rebounds; Classen six points, five rebounds and one steal; Selby two points and four rebounds; Mia Lindsay two points and one steal; T. Young four rebounds and two steals and Taylor Cuhel one steal.
