John Emmet Schultz, 99, of O'Neill, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. A private family funeral service will be held on the ranch at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. John was born in Lynch on Aug. 28, 1926, the second of eight children to Samuel and Florence Schultz. He spent his entire life living in Holt County, Nebraska. After attending rural elementary schools, he graduated from Atkinson High School. John then served in the U.S. Army from June 1945 to March of 1947. On June 4th, 1948, he married the love of his life Lorraine Johnson. Lorraine's father Floyd Johnson asked John to work with him on the ranch northwest of O'Neill. John and Lorraine raised their four children Gwenda, Trudy, Debra and Scott on the Lazy FJ Ranch. John enjoyed his life working on the ranch. He felt blessed to have had that opportunity. John loved to go dancing and bowling. Other favorite passtimes were playing cards and working jigsaw puzzles. He was very loving with his eight grandkids, 11 great-grandkids and three great-great-grandkids. John passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, just a couple months after his 99th birthday celebration. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine and his daughter Gwenda.
