The O'Neill High School Girls Track and Field team had a busy week last week. They competed in the Mid State Conference Meet on Tuesday and Norfolk Catholic on Thursday.

The Lady Eagles had a nice showing at the Conference Meet finishing in 4th place. Zelie Sorensen was the high point getter for O'Neill by winning the 100, 200 and Pole Vault and being a part of the 3rd place 4 x 100 Relay. Zelie ran some very good times in all of the events running a 12.33 in the 100, 26.08 in the 200 and tying her personal best in the pole vault clearing 10-6. The 400 Relay team of Zori Koehler, Presley Heiss, Minlu Liu and Sorensen ran a new personal best time of 51.41 to finish in 3rd.

Presley Heiss had a nice day also at the Conference Meet placing 4th in the 100 and 6th in the 200.

Ashley Pischel had a great day by clearing 4-9 in the high jump to finish in 2nd place.

Freshman, Brooklyn Cahoy, cleared 8-6 in the pole vault for a personal best to finish in 4th.

Ashley Dickau continues to impress in the distance races. Her time of 12:42.14 in the 3200 was a new personal best and placed 4th.

"I was proud of our efforts at the Mid State Meet. After being rescheduled a couple of times, we finally had a nice day to run and our times and distances showed that. Our conference may be one of the toughest in Class B and we proved we can compete in it," commented Coach Mike Peterson.

On Thursday, O'Neill traveled to Norfolk to compete at Norfolk Catholic High School in their annual Invite and finished in 5th place. With the meet being so close to the B-4 District Meet in Columbus on Tuesday, May 10th, O'Neill scaled back in their entries and limited the athletes' events.

Zelie Sorensen placed first again in both the 100 and pole vault. Her height of 10-6 in the vault equaled her personal best set at the conference meet.

Presley Heiss placed second in the 100 dash and was a part of the 4 x 100 relay team that placed 3rd. Team members were Zori Koehler, Heiss, Minlu Liu and Sorensen. Ashley Pischel had a personal best jump of 4-10 in the high jump to finish in 2nd also.

Autumn Hilker also earned a silver medal placing 2nd in the 400.

Ashley Dickau running in her first 800 of the year placed 4th with a personal best time of 2:41.50

Brooklyn Cahoy placed 4th in the pole vault clearing 8-0.

Head Coach Mike Peterson commented, "We limited our athletes' competition at this meet due to districts being so close to it. Even though we did this, I felt we competed well and look forward to competing at the B-4 District Meet in Columbus."
