Sioux FAlls, SD — Jane M. Vequist, 67, of Sioux Falls, SD, died Saturday, July 30, 2022 at her home in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022 at George Boom Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022 at the funeral home in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Jane was born to Guy and Anna (Edwards) Muth in Madison, SD. She graduated from Chester High School in 1973 and then attended Nettleton College. 

Jane married Tom Vequist in 1984 and together they raised their two children Sarah and Tommy.

Jane was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and was very active in sports her whole life, both watching and participating in softball, golf, volleyball and bowling. 

She retired in 2020, after working at Good Samaritan Society for 42 years.

Jane loved crafts and sewing for friends. She went out of her way to help anyone that needed it. Anyone will agree that she was one of the kindest women anyone ever came across. 

Jane loved spending time with family and friends, especially her beloved J-Crew. Jane will be remembered as being a strong woman, especially mentally and spiritually, who fought a very tough and good fight.

Jane is survived by many who loved her, survivors include her daughter Sarah Kuhn of Sioux Falls, SD; one son Thomas Vequist of Lincoln; her ex-husband Thomas Vequist of Sioux Falls, SD; her twin sister Joan Hakeman of Watertown, SD and sister Rebecca Krumvieda of Sioux Falls, SD; four very special nieces and nephews; and a special friend Vicki Wells.

She was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Anna Muth, one niece Erin Hakeman and one brother-in-law Kevin Hakeman.
