KEARNEY — Funeral Service for Harold N. Ziegenbein, Sr. age 91 of Kearney formerly of Neligh, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh, Nebraska. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2024 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, Nebraska. Burial will be in Clearwater Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Neligh American Legion Post #172 and VFW #5816. Harold passed away on June 28, 2024 at Kearney, Nebraska surrounded by family. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.beyersnidermemorialfh.com Harold Norman Ziegenbein Sr, was born to Oscar and Sylvia May (Leslie) Ziegenbein at Clearwater, Nebraska on September 13, 1932. He attended country school. Harold was enlisted in the United States Army on March 3, 1953 at Omaha, Nebraska and was discharged on March 2, 1955 from Station Ft. Carson Colorado. He was united in marriage to Frances Miller. They made their home in rural Royal, Nebraska and they later moved to Neligh. He started his working career farming and then he started working at the Nebraska Department of Roads, and retired from Lichtenberg Tire as a tire professional. Harold enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with family. Harold also enjoyed dressing up as Santa and doing wood working with Louie and Doug Bolling. He was a member of the Neligh American Legion Post #172. Harold is survived by his sons: Harold Norman Ziegenbein, Jr. of Lincoln, Nebraska; Alan Ziegenbein of Chambers, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Amanda (Justin) Singleton, Shane Ziegenbein, and Aleisha Ziegenbein. Brother Herb Ziegenbein of Winnetoon, Nebraska; sister Myrtle Blair of Winnetoon, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances. Daughter Mildred and son Oscar. Brothers Hugh, Glenn, Kenny, and Howard. Sisters Ruth Carlson, Gyva Rodgers, and Diane Bolling.
