Papillion — Gloria Jean Everett, 91, of Papillion, formerly of Atkinson, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022 at Papillion Manor Nursing Home in Papillion.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022 at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson with a prayer service.

Visitation was continued on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Atkinson.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22, 2022 at the church in Atkinson.

Pallbearers were Lindsey Baskin, granddaughter; Shalyce Emerson, great-granddaughter; and Gary L. Lech, Bryan Osborn and Warren Osborn, all nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Steve Everett, Scott Everett and David Roethemeyer, all grandsons.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Gloria was born April 6, 1931 in Omaha. She was the daughter of Tony and Calella (Johnson) Lech. The family moved to Atkinson shortly after Gloria's birth. The family grew to include her sister Carol (Osborn) and brother Gary Lech.

Gloria remained in Atkinson for the remainder of her life until poor eye sight and health led her to Papillion Manor.

Gloria graduated from Atkinson High School in 1949. Upon graduation, she became a teacher of grades one through eight in a rural Atkinson grade school. 

She continued to teach until she married Russell Everett Jr. in June of 1952. Gloria and Jr. made their home in Atkinson and raised four children there. 

During this time Gloria worked as a bookkeeper for the family business East End 66 until Jr.'s death in 1978.  

Gloria also worked at the local dentist office and the nursing home.  

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was part of Mary Circle there.  

Gloria loved to garden and work in her yard. She loved to sew, quilt and read until her failing eyesight no longer allowed her to take part in these hobbies. Gloria loved to walk and spent many hours enjoying the outdoors in this way. Gloria stayed in touch with classmates and was part of the alumni group, The 49er's.

Gloria is survived by her four children Tony (Sherry) Everett of Elkhorn, Chris Everett and Bonnie Everett, both of Omaha, and Jeff Everett of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren Steve (Jenn) Everett, Scott (Celia) Everett, Lindsey (Heath) Baskin and David (Alex) Roethemeyer; seven great-grandchildren Shalyce Emerson, Reese Everett, Brady Everett, Grant Everett, Sam Baskin, Marin Everett and Quinn Everett; one sister Carol Osborn; one brother Gary A. Lech; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tony and Calella Lech, father-in-law Russell Everett Sr., mother-in-law Metta Everett, one brother-in-law Dick Osborn and one sister-in-law Mary Lois Lech.
