Eagles Run At N.C. Invite

The Eagles Cross Country Teams competed at the Norfolk Catholic Invitational last week. Twenty schools competed in the meet.

The high school girls race was first. Team placed ninth overall. Taya Dickau was 39th, Hailey Romesser 42nd, Mollie Corkle 43rd and Alison Saldana 61st. 

The O'Neill Boys Varsity team placed fifth overall. Max Berg was 13th, Paul Fonseca 17th, Tomas Arciniega 28th, Trevor Alder 34th, Brandon Romero 44th and Brock Latzel 51st. 

In the junior varsity division, the boys team placed third. Leading the team was Logan Bradshaw 13th, Alex Otte 19th, Evan Cole 20th, Caleb Laursen 26th, Gavin Kruse 41st, Tucker Cook 42nd and Kaleb Asche 43rd. 

“We can run better. I don't feel like our second half of the race was as good as we want it to be,” said Coach Hilker.

The junior high also competed. The girls team placed eighth. Kiarra Kennedy placed second overall in the girls' race. Other athletes were Taylee Wade 42nd, Emma Bowder 62nd, Lynn Miner 74th, Jailynn Romesser 80th and Isabelle Krause 85th. 

The boys junior high team placed fourth. Alonso Hernandez was fifth, Jordani Perez 14th, Kyler Wettlaufer 27th, Angel Sanchez 34th, Isaiah Wiekamp 69th, Lane Dougherty 75th, Dane Asche 76th, Jax Stevens 78th, Jase Sanders 83rd and Fernando Cayax 101st. 

This week the O'Neill Eagles will host their own invitational. The meet will be held at the O'Neill Country Club. First race is at 3:30 p.m.
