The St. Mary's Cardinal football squad traveled to Spencer last Friday afternoon to take on the Boyd County Spartans. The Cards were handed a 10-point loss, with the tide turning every possession in the fourth quarter. The Spartans had no answer for the Cardinal air game, and the Cards couldn't slow down Boyd County's Hudson Hoffman, who rushed for 282 yards on 34 carries for five touchdowns. Charlie Adams also gave St. Mary's fits as he rushed for 77 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns. The Spartan offense was one-dimensional, with the ball being carried by Hoffman, running the clock out on the Cards in the third quarter, and running 21 plays to the Card's three for the period. The only score of the second was by Jace Rosenkrans on a short touchdown run for six in the second quarter. Spencer's Hoffman dominated the third running in touchdowns. The Card's last score was on a 63-yard touchdown pass to Barlow, and a throw to Brabec gave the Cards two more.
