Eagles Have Long Week With Six Matches

Last week was a busy one for the lady Eagles as they had six matches to play from Tuesday to Saturday. 

The first game the Eagles hosted Valentine where the girls would take down the visitors in two sets, 25-19 and 25-13.

Leading the Eagles this match was Ashley Sidak with six kills and one ace serve; Autumn Jackson had four kills and one ace serve; Mia Lindsey two kills; Taylor Young had one kill, three ace serves and one block; Bergyn Classen one kill and one block; Hannah Hilker five ace serves; Serena Chavez one ace serve; Olivia Young and Madalynn Kellum two digs each; and Taylor Staroscik one dig.

Later in the day, West Holt visited and took down the Eagles on their own turf. It was a close match, 25-22 and 25-23 but the Huskies just barely managed the win.

Jackson took charge with 10 kills; Mariah Kallhoff had four kills, one ace serve and one block; T. Young four kills and two blocks; Sidak four kills and one block; Classen three kills and one block; Hilker two kills; Kellum one ace serve; Chavez 11 digs; Staroscik six digs; and O. Young two digs.

After a short break, the Eagles were back at it Thursday to take on Crofton. The first set wasn't a good start for the Eagles, falling 25-15. Set two was the Eagle's first and last victory of the match, taking it 26-24. The final bouts were close but the Warriors managed to overwhelm the Eagles and take the match 3-1.

T. Young took the lead with 12 kills; Sidak and Classen had eight kills each; Jackson four kills and one ace serve; O. Young three kills and one block; Kellum two ace serves; Hilker one ace serve; Staroscik nine digs; and Kallhoff four digs.

On Saturday the Eagles were matched up with the Central City Bison for Tournament play. Unfortunately, this would not be the match to break the Eagles' bad luck streak. Set one was a big set-back for the girls, trailing 25-14. The Eagles started to get into the swing of things, but they still fell 25-20 to end the game. 

Classen led with six kills and two blocks; O. Young five kills; Sidak two kills and one ace serve; Kallhoff two kills; T. Young and Jackson one kill each; Kellum seven digs; Hilker six digs and 13 set assists; Chavez six digs and three set assists; and Staroscik two digs.

After suffering a few losses, the Eagles managed to turn things in their favor when they took down Boone Central later that same Saturday. 

Set one showed a fairly even match between the two teams, with the Eagles nudging out the win 25-21. The following set showed Eagle dominance as they sat the Cardinals down 25-15 to win the game 2-0.

O. Young took charge with eight kills and one ace serve; Sidak seven kills and one ace serve; T. Young five kills and one block; Jackson four kills; Classen three kills and one block; Hilker and Kellum both one ace serve each; and Chavez 10 digs and two set assists.

Ending off the Eagle's long week of play was a Tournament match that invited the Stanton Mustangs. The outcome of the match was certainly not what the Eagles wanted after their last match. 

The Mustangs came out hot, leaving the Eagles to deal with a 25-14 opener. The Eagles started to adjust after half but were still overwhelmed by the Mustangs who walked away with a 2-0 win over the Eagles.

The girls get a well-deserved break until Thursday where they will travel to West Point to face Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
