Eagle Girls 1-1 On Weeks Play

Feb 15, 2023 (0)

Eagle Presley Heiss charges through a tough Plainview defense in action from last week.

After a rough tournament week, the OHS girls managed to sneak in a win during last week's play.

In the girls first game, played last Tuesday against the Plainview Pirates, they were able to beat out their opponent and add a much needed win to their record. From the first half of the match, the Eagles were at a big advantage, holding the Pirates to 13 while putting up 20.

The Pirates were now down seven points, but they weren't giving up. Quarter three proved this when nearly evened the score with their 18-12 play. The Eagles couldn't let this game slip by this late, so they really focused in and managed to keep their top spot, winning quarter four 16-6.

Olivia Young leads the pack with 13 points, shooting four of 14 two-pointers for 29 percent, as well as one rebound; Bergyn Classen with seven points and six rebounds; Presley Heiss seven points and one rebound; Autumn Hilker and Ashley Sidak six points and one rebound; Lauryn Dusatko five points and six rebounds; Emma Smith four points and nine rebounds; and Elly Stearns one rebound.

After their solid win over Plainview, the Eagles traveled to Ord last Friday to take on the Chanticleers.

Quarter one was a solid opener for the Eagles, winning 15-14, not much but a good start. After that was when the Eagles really dropped the ball, falling behind by a staggering 13 points in the second quarter alone.

Going into half, the Eagles were at a huge disadvantage. Unfortunately for the Eagles, quarter three didn't go much better for them. The Eagles did manage to come back for one last Hoorah! with their 17-9 final quarter, but it came too late.

Classen leads this time with 12 points, shooting five of eight two-pointers for 63 percent, as well as four rebounds; Dusatko nine points and six rebounds; Heiss eight points and six rebounds; Young six points; Smith three points and three rebounds; Brena Gdanitz three points and one rebound; Hilker three points; Stearns one point and one rebound; Serena Chavez two rebounds; and Taylor Cuhel one rebound.
