Cauy was born Jan. 25, 2000 to Jay and Jennifer (Strong) Shaw in O'Neill. Cauy grew up in O'Neill and attended O'Neill High School, graduating with the class of 2018. He enjoyed wrestling, running cross country and showing up late to school every day.

Cauy started working for Woody Sobotka when he was 16, and always enjoyed ranch work. He later worked for Holt County Department of Roads mainly running the maintainer but if you asked him, he was just a ditch digger.

In 2022, Cauy started training as an MMA fighter in Dodge with the Bomb Squad. His first fight was in October of 2022. Cauy fought hard to get that mic in his hand and share his message about suicide and mental health awareness.

Cauy has always been kind hearted, and you could always count on him to lend a helping hand. He was true to you if you were true to him, an old soul that dreamed of living a simple life with his dog Hank Snow.

Cauy enjoyed hunting, fishing and basically anything that got him outside. He had traveled to Alaska twice and was planning a third trip with his brother Clay. Big Alkali was his favorite fishing lake, a tradition started when his grandpa was young, of camping for a week in June. Cauy was the captain of his 16-foot Lund that Grandpa Bub had given him, and he took great pride in it. Remodeling the whole inside to make it easier on his grandpa to go with him. Cauy was the best fish cleaner, taught by his idol, Grandpa.

He enjoyed spending time at the family farm, scouting and graining the deer.  Always making sure to tell his mom what deer she could and could not shoot.

Cauy is survived by his parents Jay and Jennifer Shaw of O'Neill; his brother Clay Shaw of Lincoln; his dog Hank Snow; his grandparents Carlyle “Bubs” Strong of O'Neill, Suzanne Swick of Sioux City, Iowa, and Marty (Colette) Shaw of Page; six aunts and uncles Stacy Rose of Sioux City, Iowa, Derrick (Sherry) Strong of Page, Karlene (Don) Sterns of O'Neill, Gavin (Renee) Strong of Springfield, SD, Jennise Strong of O'Neill and Jistina (Ray) Haselhorst of Norfolk; amd many cousins, great-aunts,  and great-uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Connie Strong, one uncle Shaun Strong, his great-grandparents and those that he fought for Ollin Peterson, Jesse Strong and Caden Moore.
