Broncos Clobber Ranked Mustangs

Sep 18, 2024 (0)

The Stuart Bronco football team traveled to Bladen, Nebraska, to take on the Silver Lake Mustangs. The Mustangs came into the game with ninth ranking in the state and an undefeated record. That didn't seem to bother the Broncos as they came away with the 39-8 victory.

The Broncos started hot as they forced the Mustangs to punt on their first drive. The Broncos drove down the field and scored a touchdown on their first two possessions. Drew Schmaderer started it out for the Broncos, scoring the first one, and Kayde Ramm broke a tackle and scored from 61 yards out on an option keeper. The big momentum swing was when the Broncos scored as time expired in the 1st half. Ramm scrambled and hit Hunter Tubbs for a 10-yard touchdown strike. That put the Broncos up 21-0 going into the half.

The Broncos didn't slow down in the 2nd half as they outscored the Mustangs 17-8. Ben Paxton had two touchdown receptions. One for 39 yards and one for 31 yards, and Owen Littau closed the game with a 30-yard touchdown run. The Broncos' offensive line was dominating. Zane Doke and Cameron Kaup were a big part of that.

Littau ended with 102 yards and one touchdown. Kayde Ramm was 13/18 for 145 and 3 touchdowns. Ben Paxton caught two of those, and Hunter Tubbs had one. Drew Schmaderer ran in a touchdown, as did Ramm.

The Broncos' defense was suffocating, as they only gave up 86 yards. Tubbs led the way with 10 tackles, and Paxton had nine. Littau had seven and Gavynn Mustin and Drew Schmaderer each had five. Mustin also ended the game with an interception.

The Broncos get a much-needed BYE week and will return next Friday when they host the Santee Warriors. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
