Last Friday, Feb. 28, the St. Mary's Lady Cardinals were in the midst of a decisive battle against Stuart. The winner of this match-up would proceed shortly thereafter to State play. The Cardinals made a big statement in the opening, pulling ahead 12 points. The Broncos managed to keep steady in the second act, tying with the Cards 7-7. Moving into the match's second half, the Cardinals were still well ahead of the competition. Quarter three allowed the Cards to stack up even more points, ending it 18-10. The Broncos made one last push in the finale, but the Cards wanted a clean sweep. They took the final quarter 9-8 to end the match and the Bronco's 2024-2025 season. Gracie Williamson went on the offensive and pulled in 22 points, as well as seven rebounds and three steals; Pyper Ickes, Adyson Peterson and Emerson Mlnarik all sunk nine points and Annabelle Barlow had two points and five steals. The Cardinal girls enter with a 24-2 record, and the Archangels Catholic Defenders enter with a 19-7 record.
