Last week, the Stuart Broncos hit a roadblock in the form of Elgin/Pope John. After clearing North Central on Feb. 21, the Broncos proceeded to face EPPJ on Feb. 25. On March 1. The Broncos got a shot at going tao state and took it winning in a district game 61-45. In the game with EPPJ the Broncos got off to a rocky start, falling behind 25-16 in the opening act. With half the game behind them, the Broncos would have a tough time making their way back up. Quarter three didn't do any favors for either team, coming to a 14-14 stalemate. In the end, the EPPJ Wolfpack buffed their score by a further few points to take the game 55-44. Hunter Tubbs led the team with 10 points and six rebounds; Jameson Estill and Kayde Ramm both had eight points; Drew Schmaderer had four points; Ben Paxton had three points and four steals; Nigel Addison and Lane Boelter both had two points; Owen Littau had one point; Kaige Krieger had two rebounds and Austin Connot had one steal. This was a close match at first, but the Broncos were determined to make it to the end. From the start, both teams were in sync, shooting baskets and defending at a consistent rate. By half-time, the scoreboard read 14-14 and 13-13, bringing the game to a tie. In the third stanza, the Broncos pulled ahead for the first time in the match, taking it 11-7. This was a decisive final bout, but the Broncos made short work of the Griffins. They put 23 and held down their opponent to just 11 to win the game. Hunter Tubbs was again the MVP with 19 points and 11 rebounds; Schmaderer was just behind with 19 points and five rebounds; Ramm had 17 points; Estill had four points; Paxton managed two points and Littau had four rebounds to end the night.
