Francis "Frank" Rohde, 95, of O'Neill, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024 at the Country Lane Retirement Village in O'Neill.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. Fr. Ross Burkhalter officiated.

Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or St. Mary's Catholic Schools, both in O'Neill, in Frank's name.

Frank was born July 31, 1929 in O'Neill, the son of Romaine and Agnes (Stanton) Rohde.  Frank grew up on a farm 25 miles north of O'Neill, graduating from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1947.

Following graduation, he worked at farming related jobs until he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served until his honorable discharge.

He came back to live on the farm helping his parents with farming.

He and Maureen Mahony were united in marriage Sept. 10, 1957 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. After their marriage Frank and Maureen lived on the Rohde Homestead Farm that had been started by his grandfather John Rohde. He continued to farm until 1965 when he purchased heavy equipment to begin an earth moving business until he retired in 2000. He and Maureen moved to an acreage three miles north of O'Neill in 1974 where they remained until 2019 at which time they moved to O'Neill.

Frank was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, O'Neill American Legion and served on the R.E.A. board of directors for several years.

Frank was very devoted to his family and his faith in God. Through the good and bad he was grateful for the gift of life and the blessings it bestowed on him during his journey here on earth.

Francis is survived by five children Mark (Tami) Rohde of Kingsley, Iowa, Terri Rohde of Lincoln, Jerome Rohde (Rob Newcomb) of Lincoln, Peggy Rohde of O'Neill and Michelle (John) Sgourakis of Omaha; seven grandchildren Seth (Annie) Rohde, Megan (Colt) Baldwin, Tate (Katie) Rohde, Maureen Rohde, Vasili Sgourakis, Isabelle Sgourakis and Sophia Sgourakis; five great-grandchildren Emma, Clara and Cal Rohde and Mya and Jay Baldwin;  and many other relatives and friends.
