Chambers — Marjorie Mae Crabtree, 87, of Chambers, died Thursday, March 20, 2025 at her home in Chambers surrounded by her family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the First Christian Church in O'Neill.

Burial will be in the Orchard Hill Cemetery in Orchard.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in O'Neill in Marjorie's name.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of the arrangements.

Marjorie was born on Feb. 26, 1938 in Page, to Marion and Grace (Fleming) Brewster. At a young age her family moved to the Goose Lake area. In her elementary years, she attended country school at District 73. She later attended Page then Wheeler Central High School graduating with the class of 1955.  

Marge attended State Normal School for Teachers in Wayne, where she received her teaching certificate. Marge taught for four years in country schools around the Swan Lake and Holt County area. Her love of education influenced those she encountered, both her students and her children.

Marge married Archie Crabtree on Oct. 3, 1958 in Wagner, SD while he was home on leave from the military. They began their life together between Plainview and Brunswick on a small farm. In 1967 they moved to the Goose Lake area where they continued farming before moving south of Chambers in 1980. Marge and Archie have been dairy farmers throughout their married life.  

Marge loved being outdoors and farm life, especially the sight of wobbly baby calves, the smell of fresh cut alfalfa, the sound of windmills and the warm sun on her face.

To their union seven children were born. Marge loved her family. She was their biggest supporter, their encourager and at times, their conscience. She was their rock. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Marge also loved reading and listening to gospel music. 

Marge was involved in several Bible study groups and an active member of the First Christian Church.

Marge is survived by her husband of 67 years Archie Crabtree of Chambers; her six children Dean (Dee) Crabtree of Chambers, Doug (Linda) Crabtree of Johnstown, CO, Roxanne Talbitzer of Kearney, Monte (Ellen) Crabtree of Louisville, KY, Kay Crabtree of Lincoln and Cyndi (Steve) Heddleston of Lexington, KY; 10 grandchildren Landon (Andrea) Crabtree, Kami (Shane) Madsen, Trenton (Sarah) Talbitzer, Lyndee (Mitch) Whalen, Grahm (Shay) Talbitzer, Kyla (Jacob) Lovejoy, Grayson Crabtree, Logan Crabtree, Joshua (Brittany) Crabtree and Ethan Crabtree; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister Lois Fritts of St. Joseph, MO; and one brother Wayne (Helen) Brewster of Ewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Grace Brewster, one son Craig Crabtree, one sister Norma Brewster, two brothers Darrell Brewster and James Brewster, two brothers-in-law Gene Crabtree and Donald Pahl, her father-in-law John Crabtree, her mother-in-law Viola Crabtree, one son-in-law Robert Talbitzer and one granddaughter Breckyn Crabtree.
