The O'Neill Lady Eagles recently competed in Sub-District play last week. They fought hard against Wakefield and Pierce last Monday, Oct. 28 but were cut short.

In the first match, the Eagles duked it out with the Wakefield Trojans in neutral territory. Set one got the Eagles off to a good start, taking it 25-17. There was some back-and-forth scoring, but the Eagles ultimately came out on top.

Olivia Young was the MVP against the Trojans with 12 kills and eight digs; Bergyn Classen had 11 kills, one block, three digs and one set assist; Ashley Sidak had eight kills and five digs; Autumn Jackson had seven kills, one ace serve, one block, two digs and one set assist; Taylor Young had three kills and two set assists; Hannah Hilker had one kill, two ace serves, 11 digs and 37 set assists; Madalynn Kellum had three ace serves and two digs; Serena Chavez had one ace serve and 14 digs; and Taylor Staroscik had seven digs.

Later in the day, the Eagles would face a tough 27-5 Pierce. The match got off to a great start for the Eagles, taking it 25-15. Things were flipped around in the second, the Eagles this time falling 25-15. The game kept up this pace until the end, giving Pierce the upper hand.

Jackson led against the Bluejays with 10 kills, two ace serves, one block and five digs; Classen had nine kills and one dig; O. Young had six kills, one block and six digs; Sidak had six kills, 11 digs and one set assist; T. Young had three kills; Hannah Hilker had one kill, 11 digs and 30 set assists; Chavez had eight digs and one set assist; and Mia Lindsay, Staroscik and Kellum all had one dig each.

The girls end their 2024 season with a record of 12-21.
