Butte, MT — Marlene Sue Belik, 71, of Butte, MT, formerly of the O'Neill area, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at the Crest Nursing Home in Butte, MT.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the O'Neill Cemetery in O'Neill.

A lunch will be served at the Evergreen Assisted Living Center in O'Neill following the service.

The family requests any special memories of Marlene be left on the Biglin Mortuary website at https://www.biglinsmortuary.com.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Marlene Sue Nelson-Geary-Belik, youngest child of Ralph Raymond Nelson and Alma Eloise Newell was born March 24, 1952 in the Atkinson Memorial Hospital. She joined two brothers Kenneth Lee Nelson and Gary Ray Nelson. She was adopted in 1959 by her stepfather Daniel Calvin Geary.  

Marlene attended Nebraska schools in and around the Lyons, Craig, Inman and Orchard areas.  After graduating high school in Orchard in 1970, she attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk for one year.

On Aug. 19, 1972, she was married to Robert Neil Belik in O'Neill.  To this union two children were born Jeremy Todd and Jennifer Lea.  Marlene and Bob divorced in February 2001.

During her lifetime, she was a homemaker, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, playing cards, traveling, camping, fishing and calving time on the farm. Her faith, family and many friends brought her great joy.

Marlene was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Altar Society and Fraternal Orders of Eagles.

Marlene is survived by her two children Jenny Munter of Belgrade, MT and Jeremy Belik of O'Neill; six grandchildren Maximus and Ethan Munter, Dylan, Carson, Bergan and Jace Belik; one sister-in-law Loreyn Nelson; one niece Julie (Mike) Anderson; three nephews Rusty (Lisa) Nelson, Dan (Angie) Nelson and Anthony (Amber) Nelson; three great-nieces; six great-nephews; three great-great nieces; and two great-great nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Nelson and Eloise Gary, two brothers Gary and Kenneth Nelson, two nieces Rhonda and Gina Nelson, one nephew Tim Nelson, four aunts and three uncles.
