Lady Eagles Go 1-2 On Week's Play

Last week was a tough one for the Eagle girls, falling victim to two of their three opponents.

Their first match-up brought them to Wagner on Tuesday, Jan. 16 where they fell 66-44.

Quarter one gave the Red Raiders the advantage, winning 21-15. Quarter two was another big Wagner win, putting them well ahead the Eagles.

The third saw the Eagles putting up four, while the Raiders gained 11. While it didn't help much, the Eagles managed to snag the final quarter of the game, winning it 12-9. The Eagles put up a good effort, but ultimately fell 66-44.

Hannah Hilker scored at the top with 14 points, shooting four of nine three-pointers for 44 percent and one of four two-pointers for 25 percent. Hilker also had two rebounds and one steal; Olivia Young had nine points and two rebounds; Ashley Sidak eight points and five rebounds; Presley Heiss four points and four rebounds; Keeley Chavez four points, two rebounds and one steal; Rylee Selby two points and two rebounds; Lauryn Dusatko one point and four rebounds ; Bergyn Classen one point, three rebounds and one steal; Serena Chavez one point and one steal; and Brena Gdanitz one rebound.

Three quiet days passed and the girls were back to work, this time they traveled to West Point to face a tough GACC team. Unfortunately for the Eagles, this was a one-sided pairing-as GACC easily overpowered them 64-24.

In the beginning, the Eagles took a an backseat, falling behind 14 points. The following quarter didn't fair any better, with the Eagles trailing a further 15 points. 

Quarters three and four were similar, leading to another Eagle defeat for the week.

Bergyn Classen this time took first place with eight points, shooting four of five two pointers for 80 percent. Classen also had four rebounds; Young had six points and one rebound; Hilker three points, two rebounds and one steal; S. Chavez three points; Gdanitz two points and one steal; K. Chavez two points; Heiss three rebounds and one steal; Dusatko three rebounds and Sidak two rebounds.

One day after GACC, it was now time for the Eagles to host Neligh-Oakdale. Thankfully for the Eagles, this game wasn't anything like the previous. They downed the Warriors 59-29.

The opening quarter was a great start for the Eagles, going 17-7. The next gave the Eagles another solid six-point push, putting them now 16 points in the lead.

Going into half, the Eagles were sitting good, and quarter solidified the Eagle's victory, winning 12-5. In the final, the Eagles put up a solid 19, while holding the Warriors to just 10, making them the easy winners of this match.

Lauryn Dusatko scored a solid 18 points, shooting seven of 11 two-pointers for 64 percent. Dusatko also had nine rebounds and one steal; Hilker just behind with 15 points, four rebounds and five steals; Heiss seven points, four rebounds and four steals; Autumn Hilker five points and one rebound; S. Chavez five points; Young four points, four rebounds and three steals; Classen three points, three rebounds and one steal; Sidak two points and two rebounds; Gdanitz  three rebounds and one steal; Selby one rebound and one steal; and K. Chavez one rebound.
