Basketball season has started and the O'Neill Eagle boys clearly came prepared. Their first game was played when they traveled to Valentine on Nov. 30 and took down the Badgers by a score of 54-40. From the start, the Eagles showed they were there to win. They put 21 points in the first quarter alone, while also holding down Valentine to just seven. Quarter two did no favors for the Badgers, as the Eagles continued to stay ahead. Quarters three and four were good for the Badgers, just nudging the Eagles out. This came too little, too late, as the Eagles had already made their statement from the start. Drew Morrow was on a roll with 26 points, shooting two of 11 three-pointers for 18 percent and eight of 11 two-pointers for 73 percent. Morrow also had six rebounds and three steals; Colton Osborne had 14 points and 20 rebounds; Turner Heiss seven points, eight rebounds and one steal; Ryder Pokorny five points, three rebounds and one steal; Grant Dusatko two points and two rebounds; Trevor Alder and Evan Kopecky both one rebound and one steal; and Porter Mathews and Weston Kohl both one rebound.
