Bronco Drew Schmaderer shoots for the hoop against Creighton in sub-district action last Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Santee.. The Stuart Bronco boys have just moved onto playing districts action this week, and they are already proving how they made it there. They faced off against Creighton and Santee last Tuesday, Feb. 21 and Thursday, Feb. 23, respectively. They will be facing off against Paxton on Tuesday for a chance to advance to the state tourney. Sandy Miller, head of JH Boys Basketball at Stuart High School, had this to say about the games; I am very proud of this team and the perseverance they have shown this entire season. We came off a loss on Friday to compete in a Sub-District that had four teams with 13 wins or more and three teams in the top 12 of wild card points. We opened up with a tough Creighton team and found ways to make plays down the stretch as the game was tight up until the final minutes. In the finals of the Sub-District game, we would face a team that we had played two times previous and with both games going down to the final few plays. I thought the boys prepared well and showed a lot of composure in a game that had numerous momentum swings. This win puts us in a district final with the opportunity to play in Lincoln. The boys dedicated these final weeks to “Together” and they have done a great job of putting team first. Thank you to the great support we have had in the post season and the entire year!
