O'Neill Boys Still On A Roll

Feb 1, 2023 (0)

Eagle Drew Morrow goes in for a lay-up despite a group of Husky defenders.

The O'Neill boy's basketball team has been on a roll recently, not losing a single match in 2023 so far.

Last week the Eagles traveled to Norfolk to face the Norfolk Catholic Knights on Tuesday. This game almost ended the boy's impressive win streak they currently hold, but they were able to overcome the competition.

The first quarter was a good way to kick things off, with the Eagles taking a six-point advantage. Quarter two ended in a tie, 9-9.

The next quarter was claimed by the Eagles by three points. By now, things weren't looking too hot for the Knights, but with enough good plays, they could bring the game back. The Knights put their best foot forward and took the final quarter by six points. This was a good final effort, but the Eagles had already made their mark.

Landon Classen takes this game with 20 points, shooting two of four three-pointers for fifty percent and three of eight two-pointers for 38 percent, as well as six rebounds; Drew Morrow 13 points and two rebounds; Ryder Pokorny nine points and two rebounds; Kyler Dean five points and one rebound; Colton Osborne four points and five rebounds; and Turner Heiss four points and two rebounds.

The Eagle's next match came two days later, on Thursday, when they hosted the West Holt Huskies. This match was a total landslide victory for the Eagles.

Starting things off, the Eagles were put at a heavy disadvantage, falling 10-19. By the second quarter, though, they started to pick up the pace. The Eagles took the quarter 23-11, more than leveling the playing field.

Quarter three was no different from the last, with the Eagles leaving the Huskies behind by an additional seven points. The Eagles had more than turned the game around at this point, but quarter four was the final nail in the Huskies' coffin. They fell to the Eagles 33-9, a whopping 24-point difference in just one quarter.

Classen easily makes the Eagle's MVP of the game with his mind-blowing 42 points, shooting three of 10 three-pointers for 30 percent and 12 of 17 two-pointers for 71 percent, as well as nine rebounds; Morrow 15 points and one rebound; Pokorny eight points and two rebounds; Heiss seven points and three rebounds; Dean four points and three rebounds; Trevor Alder three points; Osborne two points and nine rebounds; Tyler Diediker one point and one rebound; and Grant Dusatko one rebound.
