Lincoln — William "Bill" Joseph Klabenes, 64, of Lincoln, died Thursday, June 15, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.

Visitation was held Monday, June 19, 2023 at Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln with a rosary.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Lincoln.

Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Bill was born in O'Neill to Raymond and Margaret (Thiele) Klabenes and was raised on a farm north of Chambers. He was the fifth of 11 children. He graduated from Chambers Public School in 1976.

After earning a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering in 1982, he worked for LT&T Phone Company for 19 years.

He then went on to become an independent contractor, setting tile and ended with him working for Lincoln Public Schools.

Bill married his high school sweetheart Pamela (Hobbs) Klabenes on Nov. 22, 1978. They made their home in Lincoln. They were blessed with six children:Trisha (Joe) Arnold, Valorie (Patrick) Murray, Curtis (Elizabeth) Klabenes, Riki (Scott) Schaefer, Cheri (Dave) McKay and Matthew (Valerie) Klabenes.

Bill's favorite pastimes included spending time with family. Family meant everything to him. Whether it was on a boat, in an ice hut, on a snowy hill or at a sporting event he found a way to always make his times with his 26 grandchildren unforgettable.

Those that know him know that he never met someone that stayed a stranger for long or someone in need that he didn't help. Bill was a loving man that valued God, family and hard work. His story-telling and huge heart will be missed by all.

Don't worry, he is moving on the way he preferred…with no shoes on.
