Butte — Steven John Ludemann, 64, of Stromsburg, died at his home Monday, March 13, 2023 after losing his courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Seger's Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the funeral home in Stuart. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Stuart. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Steven was born Dec. 8, 1958 in Butte to William John and Kathryn Ann Ludemann. Steve attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Grade School up to second grade in Butte. He then attended Butte Public School graduating in 1977. Steve was employed at various jobs in the Atkinson and Butte area. On May 8, 1982, Steve was united in marriage to Mary Paulette Kramer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson. To this union a daughter Wendy was born. In 1982, Steve, Paulette and Wendy moved to Casper, WY and later moved to Medicine Lodge, KS. Steve and Paulette moved to Stromsburg and have lived there for over 25 years. After moving to Stromsburg, Steve worked for A-Rue Feedlot and McLean Feedlot. Steve had a great personality and a positive outlook on life. He was a true cowboy at heart. He loved his horses and livestock and loved watching old westerns. One of his great hobbies was fishing. He loved spending time with family and having long conversations with friends. He was a great husband, father, brother and grandfather. Steve is survived by his wife of 40 years Paulette Ludemann; his daughter Wendy (Anthony) Wemhoff of Pilger; three grandchildren Liberty, Madison and Clayton; three great-grandchildren Hagan, Stella and Rextyn; two brothers Michael (Ellen) of Pierre, SD and Joe (Sue) of LaVista; one sister Nancy (Brian) of Grimes, Iowa; one sister-in-law Sharon Schaaf of Stuart; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William John Ludemann and Kathryn Ann Ludemann, one brother David, one grandson Spencer, his in-laws Paul and Noreen Kramer and one brother-in-law Jim Schaaf.
