The St. Mary's boys basketball team is already off to a good season. They hosted the Osmond/ Randolph Tigers on Thursday, Dec. 1, and dominated the court. Right from the start, the Cardinals started off strong, leading by eight points at the end of the first quarter. The rest of the match held much of the same energy. The Cards managed to come out on top in all four quarters against the Tigers. Gage Hedstrom leads the first game of the year with 24 points, shooting one of two in three-pointers for 50 percent and 10 of 14 in two-pointers for 71 percent, as well as five rebounds; Isaac Everitt nine points and eight rebounds; Dalton Alder and Carson Dennenbring both nine points and three rebounds each; Risken Dawson four points and four rebounds; Jack Gydesen three points and two rebounds; Kyle Pribil two points and one rebound; and Wyatt Scofield one rebound. The first quarter was a good start for the Cards, taking the quarter 16-11. The next was an even score of 15 for both the teams. The next quarter Riverside took by three points. At this point, it was a pretty even game, but just at the end the Cards were able to push through and it was enough to prove who were kings of the court that day. Hedstrom leads again with 20 points, shooting two of two three-pointers for 100 percent and six of nine two-pointers for 67 percent, as well as three rebounds; Everitt 13 points and seven rebounds; Alder 11 points and one rebound; Dannenbring eight points and four rebounds; and Sam Barlow two points and four rebounds.
