The Cardinals have been on a roll recently, and last week was no exception. They hosted Stuart and Neligh-Oakdale last Monday, Sept. 29 and sent them packing quickly. The first opponent was Stuart, who have been having a bit of a rough go at it lately. Both teams kept a consistent pace the whole time, but the Cards were always one step ahead. The Cards put the Broncos down 2-0 in back-to-back 25-15 sets. Gracie Williamson took top honors with 10 kills and six digs; Tatum Ickes close behind with eight kills, one ace serve and seven digs; Anna Otte had six kills and two digs; Delaney Drueke had two kills, five digs and one set assist; Adyson Peterson had two kills, four digs and 21 set assists; Samantha Asche had two ace serves and two digs; Bethany Leisy had 10 digs and one set assist; and Cherish Williamson had one dig. Later, the Cards faced Neligh-Oakdale, who have also been struggling this season. Again, both teams played consistent, with the Cards staying ahead. The match ended 2-0 in the Card's favor; 25-14 & 25-14. G. Williamson was the star with nine kills and four digs; Ickes had six kills and eight digs; Asche had three kills, one ace serve and one dig; Drueke had two kills, one ace serve and two digs; Otte had one kill and one dig; Peterson had one ace serve, two digs and 16 set assists; and Leisy had six digs. After a few days rest, the Cardinals were right back at it, this time facing against Creighton and Hartington-Newcastle in another tri. Creighton hosted the matches, but the Cards stole the show. They took down the home team 2-0; 25-17 & 25-13. G. Williamson again stole the show with nine kills, two ace serves, and six digs; Ickes close with eight kills and eight digs; Drueke had five kills, one ace serve, one dig and one set assist; Otte had five kills, one blocl, two digs and one set assist; Peterson had two kills, one ace serve, two blocks, two digs and 26 set assists; Asche had one ace serve and two digs; and Leisy had seven digs. In the second match of the tri, and the girl's final match of the week, they faced Hartington-Newcastle,who have been in a tough spot for some time. They held their own against the Cards the best they could, but still fell short in the end, 2-0; 25-14 & 25-13. G. Williamson was the MVP with 10 kills and eight kills; Ickes had five kills, two ace serves and seven digs; Peterson had one kill, one ace serve, two digs and 17 set assists; Otte had one kill; Leisy had four ace serves and eight digs; Drueke had nine digs; and Asche had three digs. The Cardinal's record now sit at 14-2 on the season.
