Ewing — Ruth Elaine Hinrichsen, 87, of rural Ewing, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Arbor Care Center in O'Neill surrounded by her family.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Chambers Community Church of Christ in Chambers.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the church in Chambers. Rev. Mike Durre officiated.

Burial was in the Chambers Cemetery in Chambers.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill was in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth was born Oct. 15, 1936 to Ernest and Esther (Green) Durre in rural Ewing, by Goose Lake. She attended country school through the eighth grade, she then worked on her family farm and took care of her mom until she passed in 1983.  

Ruth married Arthur Hinrichsen on March 23, 1976 in Neligh, to this union son Alan was born.

She enjoyed working on her ranch, haying, fencing, calving and milking cows. Ruth also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, thrifting and had a big passion for collecting salt and pepper shakers, she was also an amazing cook.  Ruth slowed down in 2006 due to health reasons.

  Ruth is survived by her son Alan Hinrichsen of Ewing, one sister Gladys (Jim) Fink of Orchard, two sisters-in-law Ruth Durre of Hastings and Pauline Durre of Elgin, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur in 1995; eight siblings Irene Whiting, Clara Larson, Henry Durre, Lloyd Durre, Helen Schwager, Ernest Durre, Donald Durre and David Durre.
