Stuart —Ron F. Holtgrew, 62, of Stuart, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in Norfolk.

Visitation was held Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson with a prayer service.

A celebration of life service was held Monday, April 8, 2024 at the Atkinson Community Center in Atkinson. Pastor Wayne Owens officiated.

Pallbearers were Scott Holtgrew, Jon Zeisler Jim Knust, Kevin Kay, Leon Heller, Gary Raymer, Doug Breiner and Galen Heiser.

Honorary pallbearers were all of Ron's remaining family and friends.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Ron was born April 3, 1961 to Bill and Helen (Wylie) Holtgrew in Wayne. Ron graduated in 1979 from Winside High School. He enjoyed working on and racing motorcycles in his youth. 

He married Kim Kay on Sept. 5, 1981. 

He ran a commercial hay business, raised cattle and farmed with his dad until 1986 when Ron and Kim moved to Atkinson. Ron was a farmer first but enjoyed many passions throughout his life including trucking and his auction company, Holtgrew Auctions. 

Ron enjoyed ice fishing with trips taking them as far as Canada, boating, metal work, collecting John Deere tractors and spending time with his grandchildren, friends and family. 

Ron is survived by his wife Kim of Atkinson; two daughters Kristin (Bob) Bohling and Ashley (Jon) Zeisler; five grandchildren Brett and Trever Bohling, Avery, Taylor and Jordyn Zeisler; one great-grandson Bob Bohling; three brothers Bill (Sue) Holtgrew of Hinton, Iowa, Bob (Catherine) Holtgrew of Winside and Don (Sandra) Holtgrew of Atkinson; two sisters Vickie (Joe) McNamara of Sioux City, Iowa and Linda (Willy) Kreikemeier of West Point; mother-in-law Lila Kay of Wayne; one brother-in-law Kevin (Teresa) Kay of Wayne; one sister-in-law Karla (Bert) Moore of Holsclaw Hill, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by both of his parents and his father-in-law John E. Kay.
