Laurel — Robert "Bob" William Daudt Sr., 92, of Laurel, formerly of Chambers, died Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel.

A celebration of life service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Taylor Cemetery in Taylor. Coffee and lunch will follow at the Loup County Event Center in conjunction with the Goos Reunion.

Bob's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes placed with his wife's.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital where Bob continued to  make yearly donations after the death of his wife.

The Wintz Ray Funeral Home in Laurel was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert was born July 27, 1931, in Greeley County to Richard and Rose (Huebner) Daudt. He was raised by his mother and father along with his three sisters. Following his father's death in 1941, Bob went to live with his aunt and uncle Frank and Evelyn Huebner, on their farm in rural Greeley County. He resided and worked there until he joined the United States Air Force on  May 6, 1952.

While home on leave, Bob met his future wife, Betty Goos, a teacher at Ericson. They were united in marriage on June 8, 1953 and moved to Altus, OK, where he was stationed.

Upon Bob's discharge in May, 1956, they made their home in Loup County, where Bob farmed and had a cattle herd. In later years they moved to Chambers, where both were employed at the Foxley Cattle Company feedlot.

In later years, as Betty's health declined and her eyesight failed,  Bob became her sole caretaker. In 2019, Bob and Betty moved to Blair to be closer to family. After Betty's death in May of 2021, Bob continued to live independently in their apartment in Blair where he daily fed and watered the neighborhood squirrels. Bob was a lover of all animals and especially enjoyed taking care of dogs and horses in his later years.

Bob looked forward to family get-togethers and reunions and attending events for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Betty took grandchildren on many trips to the western and southwestern United States.

Bob moved to Hillcrest Care Center in August of 2023, due to health problems. It was a hard move for him to make but he didn't complain and made the best of it even though his health continued to decline.

Bob was a kind and caring man, well liked by all who met him. He was always happy to have people visit him.

Bob is survived by three daughters Debbie (Steve) Postany of Taylor, Lisa (Kevin) Hoffman of Chambers and Laurie (Jeff) Robinson of Blair; one son Robert (Ann) Daudt Jr. of Plainview; one sister Leola Marienau of Hanford, CA; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty,  his parents, two sisters and an infant son Dennis Robert.
