Fremont — Rita A. Grosse, 85, of Fremont, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024 at Nye Legacy in Fremont surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont with a 7 p.m. Catholic Daughter's rosary.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in O'Neill.

Memorials may be made to Archbishop Bergan Elementary School in Fremont or St. Mary's Catholic Schools in O'Neill in Rita's name.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of the arrangements.

Rita was born Oct. 21, 1938 in O'Neill to Charles and Alice (Barrett) Boyle. She grew up in O'Neill and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1956.   

Rita married Kenneth Grosse Nov. 3, 1962 in O'Neill. They lived in Bossier City, LA; Bellevue; Okinawa, Japan; Biloxi, MS; Grand Forks, ND; San Bernardino, CA; and USAFA, CO during Ken's service in the U.S. Air Force. They moved to Fremont in 2004. She started a Deli at Norton Air Force Base in CA and managed the deli's at the Air Force Bases in New Mexico and Arizona. Rita later worked at the Air Force Academy in various positions and sold Princess House crystal.   

Rita loved decorating cakes, playing cards and dancing. Later in life, she enjoyed coloring greeting cards, bookmarks and pictures for family and friends. She loved her church, her family, watching her grandchildren, helping others and a good joke. She always made those around her feel loved. Rita will be missed by the many lives she touched throughout her life. 

Rita is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont, Catholic Daughters and St. Patrick Women. She was a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC) and took communion to homebound and nursing home members. She was an Associate Member of Sisters of St. Frances and Christian Charity at Sacred Heart Provence, Denver CO.   Rita was a former member of Riverside 4-H Club, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, CO, and of numerous Military Wives Clubs. 

Rita is survived by her husband Ken Grosse; two sons Todd (Wendy) Grosse of Fremont and Kent (Meg) Grosse of Lakewood, CO; one daughter Ellen (Dean) Gacita of Colorado Springs, CO; five sisters Mary Klintobe of O'Neill, Elaine Ramold of Norfolk, Theresa Parks of Osmond, Helen (Dennis) Cunningham of Norfolk and Frances (Lyle) Gillogly of Salinas, CA; five grandchildren Andrew (Chivas) Gacita, Garrett (Jessica) Gacita, Alyssa, Emma and Madison Grosse; five great-grandchildren Raylen, Hannah, Kayden, Zane and Benjamin; and one sister-in-law LaDonna Grosse of Fremont. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter Annette; six sisters Delores Schneider, Rosalia Crawford, Regina Boyle, Charlene Gaughenbaugh, Cecila Boyle and Bridget Ramold; one sister-in-law Jan Cromwell; nine brothers-in-law Walt Grosse, Don Schneider, Joe Ramold, George Ramold, Arnold Crawford, Harold Parks, Lonnie Klintobe, Gene Cromwell and Delbert Hilkemeier; and parents-in-law Carl and Anna Grosse.
